Business Card Size Guide: Standard & Specialty Dimensions
Quick answer: the standard US business card is 3.5" x 2" (89 x 51 mm). Design your file at 3.75" x 2.25" to include the required 0.125" bleed on every side.
Standard size: 3.5" x 2"
This is the size wallets, card holders and rolodexes are built around. If your card needs to be kept, start here. It is the default for our Standard Business Cards and most premium stocks like Silk and Suede.
Specialty sizes that get noticed
- Square (2" x 2") β modern, compact, great for logos and QR codes. See Circle Business Cards for the die-cut round version at the same footprint.
- Slim/mini (1.75" x 3.5" or 2" x 3") β sleek and unexpected; leaves less room for contact details, so keep content minimal.
- Euro-style (2.125" x 3.375") β slightly narrower than US standard; used by several of our specialty stocks.
- Fold-over (3.5" x 4" flat, folds to 3.5" x 2") β doubles your space for menus of services, appointment cards or loyalty punch cards. See Fold-over Business Cards.
- Oversized (2" x 7", 3.5" x 4") β hard to ignore, but also hard to wallet; best for premium leave-behinds.
File setup checklist
- Add 0.125" bleed on all four sides (3.75" x 2.25" total for a standard card).
- Keep text and logos 0.125" inside the trim line (the safe zone).
- Export at 300 DPI in CMYK as a press-ready PDF.
- Round-cornered and die-cut shapes follow the same bleed rules β the shape is cut after printing.

Which size should you pick?
Choose standard when the card must be kept and filed. Choose square or die-cut when your brand competes on design. Choose fold-over when one side is not enough information. When in doubt, order the standard size in a premium finish β texture is remembered as much as shape.
