Banner Material Guide: Vinyl, Blockout, Polyester & Canvas
Quick answer: choose vinyl for all-purpose durability and value, blockout when light or double-sided printing is involved, polyester fabric for an elegant matte look that packs without creasing, and canvas for decor and photo-style displays.
The four materials we print
Vinyl
The workhorse. Our Premium Vinyl Banners print vivid full color on smooth vinyl β ideal for sales, events, grand openings and any message that needs to read boldly from a distance.
Blockout vinyl
Blockout has an opaque core that stops light from passing through. Choose single-sided blockout when the banner hangs against windows or backlighting, and double-sided blockout when both faces print β the core prevents the reverse image from ghosting through.
Polyester fabric
Premium Polyester Banners drape softly with a matte, glare-free surface that photographs beautifully β a favorite for step-and-repeat backdrops, conferences and upscale retail. Fabric also folds small for travel without permanent creases.
Artist canvas
Artist Canvas brings a textured, gallery feel β best for interior decor, photo displays and brand storytelling rather than distance messaging.

Design tips for any banner
Use large type and strong contrast β a banner is read in seconds from feet away. Keep the message to one idea plus one action. Extend backgrounds through the standard 0.125" bleed (see our bleed guide), and supply artwork per our file guidelines. Every order includes a free digital proof before printing.
